Type: Investigation & Pursuit
Location: Starren Island → At Sea
The party continues their investigation on Starren Island, revisiting leads and uncovering new ones. Suspicion lingers around Gedrick, who remains evasive and strange. He has a familiar look in his eyes, but offers nothing new under questioning.
They scout a temple at night, observing a monk performing a ritual. The temple is dedicated to Fharlanghn, god of horizons and journeys. The priest, Jegihn, is a wood elf with tattered robes. He shares the god's teachings:
- Motto: "The going is the blessing"
- Followers value the journey over the destination
- Known as the Great Journey
- Not inherently good or bad
Jegihn mentions a land the party has never heard of and directs them to Angus Stonerind, who may know more. He says he knew Dorian, and never understood why Dorian stayed at home despite being a wanderer at heart.
After resting at the Sunken Skiff, the party visits Stonerind Manor. In the banquet hall, they observe a crest being removed and a new one going up:
- Coming down: white & silver ship with three masts (navy field, head-on)
- Going up: brown ship with two masts (light blue field, profile)
Other regional crests include:
- White field, black castle
- Green with fish
- Yellow with green tree
- Purple – solid
There is also an obelisk on the island that may warrant investigation. The party plans to obtain ship route data.
¶ Grand Library Findings
- Map of sea monster west of archipelago (toward Luxo), with geysers
- In locked study (accessed by Fighi):
- Docs on Dragonspine Mountains (NW of Sungrove)
- Books on naval history and elven culture
- Fragmented document labeled “Starhouse”, referencing a prison from the Unification Wars
- List of pirate attacks (dates & losses copied by Figli)
While inside, Sorel (the butler) reports that Angus is missing. They speak with August Stonerind, who:
- Suspects foul play due to timing
- Gives them a silver key (to the same study they already entered)
- Suggests talking to Antoinette
- Claims to not know where Saul Timble came from
- Marty Shork – Captain of the Guard
- Rex Lardi – Prison Warden
- Amber Pelight – Genasi dockworker
- Cole – Boat operator
- Angus Stonerind – Half-elf, missing, muttered about a “library to the west”
- Hummerling – Lies to the northeast
- Angus checked out a skiff and muttered cryptically
- The party rents a boat with Cole and follows his path
- They discover wreckage and spot a spectral ship with angular sails
- Onboard are figures in brown patchwork robes
The session ends as the party prepares for a combat encounter at sea, closing in on the mysterious ship.
