Type: Arrival & Exploration
Location: King’s Island, Sungrove Archipelago
The party arrives at King’s Grove, capital of the central island in the Sungrove Islands, after sailing through the weakened Eye storm. It is currently fall, and the weather is volatile.
They begin exploring and gathering information. The group hears updates from different parts of the archipelago:
- The eastern islands were hit by a tsunami three years ago.
- The southern islands are plagued by pirates.
- There are two large landmasses nearby:
- San to the north, home to mostly elves
- Kor to the west, inhabited by orcs and dwarves
- The party goes to the Shore District and learns that Captain Keln can be reached at the Weaver’s Loom Inn.
- Keln is revealed to be part of the Beam Weavers Guild.
- The regent offers the party a diplomatic escort job aboard the Dragon Turtle, one of three treasure ships (the others being the Eagle Bear and the Pegasus) being sent to San and Kor.
- The party is offered 60 gold + expenses for the job.
The party visits an obelisk in King’s Grove and compares it to the one they saw on Luxo.
- The King’s Grove obelisk is plain and non-magical, unlike Luxo’s.
The party meets Princess Cremletia, niece of the regent Chal Grantis.
She believes a secret coup is underway. She:
- Witnessed a gathering of masked individuals wearing animal-themed masks decorated with pearls
- Suspects magic was involved
- Thinks her sister Daphne (a young girl in the palace) may be in danger or hidden
- Mentions the pearls may be pseudo-magical or tied to a black market
- Animal Masks – Worn by secret cabal, decorated with pearls
- Obelisk – Found in King’s Grove, inert compared to Luxo’s
- King’s Grove – Capital of King’s Island
- Weaver’s Loom Inn – Located in the Shore District
- San – Northern landmass, inhabited by elves
- Kor – Western landmass, home to orcs and dwarves
- Luxo – Island where the Eye still hovers
The party prepares to learn more about the cabal, escort the Dragon Turtle, and uncover the growing political intrigue on King’s Island.
